Will The REAL You, Please Stand Up?

Many of us claim to know who we are…but do we really know?  Well, who are you?  Ok, you are a mother, father, leader, school teacher, pastor, student…yeah, yeah, yeah…but who are you?

God says you are fearfully and wonderfully made.  Does this speak to you?  What about the fact He knows how many hairs you have on top of your head?

You see, it’s important for us to know who are.  Why?  Because the only way you can give God the glory He deserves you need to be the person He created you to be.  The mountains give God glory by being mountains, and the stars give God glory by being stars.  You give God glory by being who He created you to be.

Being someone who you are not supposed to be is stealing His glory.

God knew you before you were born.  When he created you, He created you to fulfill a purpose.  No one creates things without giving it a purpose, and God didn’t with you either. 

It’s our turn to give him back His return.  How do we do that?  By being who He created us to be.  Fulfilling our purpose gives Him glory. 

Abraham’s purpose was to be the father of many nations.

David’s was to be the king of Israel.

Moses’ was to deliver God’s people out of Egypt.

Esther’s was to save the Jews.

Jesus’ purpose on earth was to die for you and me.

We were all called for a purpose and you might not see what it is right now, but the names I mentioned plus more didn’t know what their purpose was either at one point of their lives either. 

Therefore Jesus answered and was saying to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner.” – John 5:19

Jesus said He did what His father has shown him.  Jesus understood His purpose was to die for the whole human race. He did this and this gave the Father glory.

You were created to be who God created you to be.  Being someone else would be like denying God as God.  It is like saying “God doesn’t know what is best for me.”  Or “What God has for me is not good enough.”  How can we reject what God has created us to be?

If I was to be someone else, my true identity would be stolen. 

Have someone ever stolen from you?  I’ve had someone break into my place and steal from me.  I felt violated.  The things I purchased for my use was taken.  Once you let Jesus in your heart, you gave your whole-being to Him for His use. 

When you try to be someone else, you are stealing the identity He created and switched it for a counterfeit.

You may not see your worth today, but God has seen it before you were born.  He called you while you were in your mother’s womb.  As I am writing this, I see Jesus calling Lazarus out of the grave.  He wants the person you buried, that you thought wasn’t good enough, popular enough, pretty enough, smart enough, or that person that was not accepted by others to COME FORTH.  Ask God, “who am I?”  He will show you.

He is calling the REAL you to stand up.   

Prayer

Lord, I’ve been rejecting who you made me to be by trying to be someone else. Forgive me for not loving myself and seeing myself like how you see me. You say I am fearfully and wonderfully made and I accept that truth.  Lord, teach me to walk according to Your purposes in my life.  Help me to see myself the way You see me.  Thank you for loving me. In Jesus’ Name.
