COVID19 shook up the entire world putting it on a standstill. Pretty much everything closed down. Fear spread from place to place like a thick fog it is hard to see through it.
Many stores, salons, churches and even malls are now starting to reopen after many months.
There seems to be torn in the church on whether they should open or not. Some are excited to go back to church while others are not quite ready.
My Question: Why Is The Church In fear?
Yes, I get, COVID19 has killed many people and has spread worldwide, but what does the bible say about fear?
“Fear not” is written in the bible 365 times. That’s enough time for you to read one each day for the whole year! So why are we fearfully to come together as a body?
The church is not supposed to be like the world. We serve a God that operates in miracles every day. We are supposed to be followers of Christ.
So, what would Jesus do? He wouldn’t be hiding but out healing the sick.
Jesus did the opposite of what others thought was right.
I’m not saying we need to go around and lay hands on everyone, but if we can go shopping, if we can go to work, we can definitely go to church.
Many will say, you have to use wisdom. I get that as well. But where does wisdom come from?
For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding – Proverbs 2:6
Are we seeking wisdom from God or from men? How many of us took the time to pray about whether to go back to church or not?
God’s ways are higher than our ways. If we are walking according to God’s way, the world will not understand what we are doing or why. And that’s ok, we should rather follow God than men.
When I think about this I remember when Joshua and Caleb were sent out with other men to explore the promised land.
The other men came back with a bad report, they were afraid of the people that were there. Even though they say the good from the land, the fruit, the milk and honey, the bad was outweighing the good.
There was no way they were going to be able to go and take the land.
But Joshua and Caleb saw something else. They didn’t see the giants that lived in the land. They saw they had the Lord on their side.
Check this out in Numbers 13:28, it says the city was fortified. Now go to Numbers 14:20, Joshua said the people in the promised land had no protection. Did you see the difference?
When you are trusting the Lord, you will see things differently.
This is not the time for the church to scale back. God could be doing something special through this, and we could be rejecting it out of fear.
I am not telling anyone whether they are to go to church or not. Everyone needs to seek that answer in prayer, but I do know God is our protection and we should fear not.
