In my previous blog on forgiveness, I mentioned love is one of those words that are used loosely.
I believe there is more to the word love than simply saying ”I love you.” I believe there is to be action behind it as well.
The world has a different understanding about love.
“If you love me, you would accept me and what I do.”
Love is not supposed to be conditional. It is not to be an emotional feeling but it is a choice.
God loved you before you knew Him. And loved you so much He sent His son to die for you.
Let’s go back to putting your love to action.
If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person? Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions. – 1 John 3:17-18
Just think about that bible verse for a second…I understand verse 17 is talking about money, but we can apply this to any part of our lives.
How can we love someone and hold back what we can offer them? Whether it is money, clothes, somewhere to stay, or just support.
Verse 18 says not to just say you love someone but to also have action.
How Can I Put My Love Into Action?

1. Providing A Need
Where possible, provide the need of someone. This may not necessarily be in material things, but can also be support, or a listening ear. We tend to get really busy in life that we forget we are blessed to be a blessing.
Whatever gifts God has given to you, share with others.
2. Talk Less And Listen More
This one is connected to the first one but it is so important. Sometimes we talk to talk and not to listen. We already have a response ready without letting the person speaking finish what they have to say.
I can be guilty of that too.
Take some time to listen to what people have to say before responding will make them feel they are important and their feelings are important.
3. Sticking By When The Road Gets Rough
One of the worse things to do is scatter when your family or friend is going through a rough time; however, I see it all the time. Sad but true.
While Jesus was in the garden and the soldiers came, Jesus’ friends left him.
We think to ourselves…”who does that???”
But we do. How many times have you been too busy, or just don’t want to get involved, leaving the person that is hurting to manage everything on their own.
Even if you don’t have the right words to say, just letting the person know you are there for them is usually more than enough.
Stick around when the road gets tough, this is when the love of Christ will really shine.
There you have 3 ways you can put your love into action.
Remember when speaking, speak in love. Two people can say the same things but when it is said in love, it will be received more openly.
Let the love Christ shine through you.
Until next time, Take care and God bless

I think I needed this reminder! I have always lived by the concept that 💕 is an action and have been called to perform. I also want to add that I love that you read the blog!!! 😘

Thank you. Love is an action. We tend to forget this. Especially because we live in a fast paced world that is always seeking what’s best for ourselves. I’m glad you were blessed

Love, so big and powerful a word. But it’s strength is crippled, if there is no action. For no man can love truly if he can’t show it.
Thanks for those highlighted points, that is take home key points.

Thank you for sharing this. Indeed, love are just words, if it is not backed up with actions. For no man can say he lives, if he can’t act it out. And yes, we need to be careful of our speech and action, but let everything be done in love, always.

I loved your reminder that “we are blessed to be a blessing.” God gives to us not so we can hoard those blessings, but so we can have to give, to share and meet the needs of others! Great post! Blessings! 💗

Thank you for this Elizabeth. Love is a verb and nothing speaks more loudly than actions. Beautiful.

“Love is not supposed to be conditional. It is not to be an emotional feeling but it is a choice.” I love that you remind us love is a choice. And those three tips are great. Especially the one about talking less and listening more. That is the one I constantly have to work on. 😉

Love all three of these love in action principles. Number 3 really resonates because when things get tough is when you really see the level of commitment we have. Thanks for a great post!

I love this post. Love really is a decision, not a feeling. We are commanded to love our neighbor as ourselves. That’s means everybody. Even the not so lovable. This can be easier said than done, but we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.

I LOVE this post Elizabeth! I completely agree, love is an action more than words. Our actions are a reflection of our hearts …

You are such a delight! I really need to work on number two in showing love to others! Thank you for the reminder. I have been catching myself wanting to talk and not even listening. It has been humbling for sure.

I love your point about talking less and listening more. We all desire to be heard and when we take the time to listen to others, we show that we value them and what they have to say.

This is wonderful and such great reminders! I often have to tell myself to not talk and just listen. It is amazing how much more comfortable people are talking about hard things if they feel like you are listening in love.
